Relax
So I did something new today. I decided not to stress.
The busiest, most hectic time of my workday right now is the last hour. You're just as busy first thing in the morning, but if you don't get the work done then there is always later. At the end of the day you have a deadline. But today, I decided not to stress. And got everything done in time and without ending in a foul mood.
It went further then that. I decided not to rush to get my train, I decided that if I didn't make it I'd just go shopping for 90 minutes until peek hour was over and I could get a seat on the way home. I can quite easily spend 90 minutes looking at DVDs, CDs and Books without being bored. I ended up getting on my preferred train, I got my preferred seat, I settled down and once again decided not to stress.
I ripped a relaxation CD yesterday and dumped it on my mp3 player. On the train, I turned it on, shut my eyes and focused on my breathing. It wasn't easy at first, but I got the hang of it and I only opened my eyes twice before we were approaching my stop. I - unsurprisingly - dozed off at one point, but when I woke up I picked right up on my breathing again.
Normally when I get home from work, I am either edgy and eager to get back already, or too exhausted to feel anything but irritation. Today when I got home, I was ... relaxed. It might be worth trying again.
